OPENING REMARKS
Nancy Campbell opened the meeting and welcomed everyone.  Everyone present introduced. 
Amber Steadman from UAB and Debra Chambers from MCE were welcomed as visitors.


PRESENTATION

UAB Implementation Strategy – Melanie Turner
* Overview of UAB history
*  Clinical Integration:
* NIST – Nursing info strategy team – reps from all major divisions, buy in form higher ups, physicians. Formed work teams; APIE; Long term and short term goals. Awarded research grant awarded (from UAB) for Pyxis research – meds are charted when removed from Pyxis. Online application manuals posted on intranet. 
* EMMI (ADT) –1 mill transactions monthly – 7390 new MRNs/month
* Healthquest – registration/billing/coding
* PIN – patient info network. Mainframe. Orders, DC sheets, CPOE. Everything is printed and put on chart by HIM. Some results viewing. Will be replaced soon.
* Horizon –homegrown. Portal, transcribed reports, results, clinical docs, rad images, OR schedule, publications link. Make every one use the same transcription system (offices, clinic)
* Discussion of password, expires, alpha numeric, etc
* Cerner Millennium – 4 Nets. FirstNet (ER), SurgiNet (OR), RadNet (radiology), PathNet (lab)
o FirstNet – case tracking, quick reg, triage, view lab & rad, order rad, send bed requests,
o SN – schedule requests; distribute reporting, 72-hour block release!
o Phys ability to view into OR via web – security issues
o Touch screen developed by UAB biomed to route images to screens. Cd players, DVD burners. Issues with images leaving the system….
o OR schedule – hyperlink MRN, links to images

OLD BUSINESS:
* ANI – Becky is representing our group at the HIMMS meeting
* Building web page about all the organizations that are involved ANI. Email logo to Jackie Moss – she will come up with a prize for the winner. Can be color but needs to translate to B&W. 
* AL. HIMSS – April meeting will be with HIMMS.  CPOE?
* ALAHA – opened bank account, dues – 18 members. $325.00. Owe ALAHA $250
* Make checks out to ASCI, send to ALAHA

NEW BUSINESS:
* Is this a good time to meet? Perhaps meet every other mo, once a quarter.
* Discussion: advertise, charge nominal fee for presentations. Keep some presentations within the membership, open some up for public
* Build membership, get list serve started (Jackie volunteered)
* Discussions of how to grow membership and get advertising out 
* Positions open fro nurse informatics at Baptist & UAB

Presentations for future meetings include:
* March 11 @ Children’s’ – Mercury MD –at BHS or Children’s
* April Ala HIMMS – CPOE? –Marriott?
