ATTENDANCE: See attachment OPENING REMARKS Nancy Campbell opened the meeting and welcomed everyone and introduced Cheryl Glasscock. PRESENTATIONS o Cheryl Glasscock, RHIA made an educational presentation entitled “Children’s Health System Experiences with PDAs” * Overview of Children’s Health System and the applications and vendor being used in their facilities * Discussed how use of Mercury Data (MData) came about at Children’s * Reviewed the implementation process, usage, issues and future plans * 1 CEU was provided by Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation (AQAF) OLD BUSINESS: o Beverly Golightly gave the Treasurer’s report * Dues have been received from 20 members * Payments should be sent as follows: Please remit $25 payable to: ASCI: Alabama Hospital Association Attn: Public Relations Department 500 North East Boulevard, Montgomery, AL 36117 * The current treasury balance $485.45 o Tamara Trevarthen provided a report on the Web site development * She recommended that the group go with the free option and the web address would be (ASCI.host.bravenet.com) * She needs information for the site o Nancy will provide a brief history o Other information on members and officers o Calendar of meetings o Presentations and CEUs o Application forms o Logo discussion: * Three logo recommendations were reviewed by the group present * Becky Favor will send out an e-mail voting notice to those members who are in good standing (have paid their dues) so that they can vote on their preference o Becky Favor provided a report on the Alliance for Nursing Informatics meeting that was held at the recent HIMSS meeting in Dallas, TX * Eighteen clinical informatics joined together to form the alliance * The AMIA NI-WG and HIMSS are sponsoring ANI * Subcommittees were identified to address: - ANI Logo - By-laws - Web Site - ListServ - The next Nursing Informatics Symposium to be held at the Fall AMIA conference o Next month is the Alabama HIMSS Spring conference * Register with HIMSS to attend the conference o Tony Ruffino discussed presentations for future meetings that included: * Gadsden as a possibility for their OB system * Opelika as a possibility to present regarding their recent Cerner implementation NEW BUSINESS: o Discussed implications for attendees that have not paid dues: * Consider having those attendees who are not in good standing pay $5.00 for CEUs * Only members in good standing (those who are currently paid up on dues) can vote o ASCI officers will continue to research the feasibility of providing a conference call in number for members who cannot be physically present for the meeting * There would be a cost for a Toll free number so a method for paying for it would need to be determined * There would need to be a conference call style phone in the meeting in order for those dialing in to be able to hear well * Educational presentation implications for those calling in were discussed and included: o The presentation would need to be made available electronically in advance or during the meeting by webcast o Can CEUs be provided for people who are not physically present? o If so there would need to be some type of an evaluation process in order to complete requirements for CEUs.
