ALABAMA SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL INFORMATICS (ASCI)
MEETING MINUTES
September 10, 2004



LOCATION:
The meeting was held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Bruno Conference Center, Classroom 7 at St. Vincent's hospital.

OPENING REMARKS
Nancy opened the meeting and turned it over to Saint Vincent’s hospital for the day’s educational presentation.

PRESENTATIONS
Tony Byram from St Vincents’ provided an overview of their strategy on wireless devices, and RFID and its use in patient care.  
CEUs were provided by Saint Vincent’s hospital.

OLD BUSINESS:
Bylaws
Nancy reviewed a draft of the proposed by-laws
The secretary will distribute the draft by-laws to the members electronically in time so that the membership cam approve them in time for the November AlaHA meeting for approval
Nancy announced that the name of the organization shall be Alabama Society for Clinical Informatics (ASCI)
This name was determined by an electronic vote of the membership that was tallied by the secretary  

NEW BUSINESS
The October 15 Alabama HIMSS Fall seminar meeting was discussed
This meeting will take the place of the regular monthly ASCI meeting for October
The membership present agreed to skip having a business meeting at the October 15 HIMSS meeting
November 12 will be the next business meeting
UAB will be making the presentation at this meeting
