ASCI Meeting began @ 13:12 and members convened in the AlaHa conference room.
1. Welcome new members
Attendees’ introduction and welcome to new members.
CEU Presentation by Cindy Bell RN, BSN, CNOR. Perioperative Case Manager and Clinical System Administrator SIS.
“Surviving as a Beta Site for Clinical Documentation”
Cindy’s presentation covered the implementation of the SIS ( Surgical Information Systems) at MCE.

3. Secretary report
Minutes from meeting in Jan and Board meeting April available for members to review. They are also posted on the web site. Noted that next meeting in the fall will be deferred to the AlaHIMSS. Date is forthcoming, but should be Oct or Nov. ASCI will have meeting December 8th.
4. Alliance for Nursing Informatics Report
a. Response to National Institute for Nursing Research Strategic Plan- ANI response is that the National Institute for Nursing Research needs to provide more resources for programs.
b. Mentoring Project- ASCI will develop a Mentoring Program that will get out information to Healthcare Systems leadership related to: What is Health Care Informatics? What is the role of the informaticist? What competencies and skill sets are required and what is the scope of practice of the informaticist?
c. The Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform (T.I.G.E.R.) This is an ANI initiative regarding how to integrate technology into Nursing Education for the undergrad and graduate Nursing programs.
5. Brochure Committee- Heather Sobko is working on a brochure for ASCI. She has presented a “mockup” of a brochure and is asking for members input as to the design and wording. Discussion point- question was asked should we indicate that ASCI is affiliated or has an alliance with AlaHIMSS.
6. Newsletter Committee- Jacki announce that Debra Chambers has agreed to coordinate this effort. Heather Sobko has also agreed to serve on the committee.
7. Education Committee- Tony Ruffino is no longer chair of this committee. Jackie is asking for volunteers to serve.
8. Web site- Tamara Trevarthen will no longer manage the site. Jackie and Pan Cao will manage the site.
Announcements/New Business
Pam Autrey will now represent ASCI to AlaHa.
